Little Angels celebrates Week of the Young Child

Little Angels Christian Preschool, 647 Dundee Ave., Barrington, recently participated in the nationally celebrated Week of the Young Child with several activities and events celebrating young children and families they serve.

Little Angels, a ministry of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, invited community leaders and members to come to the preschool and read to the children; they participated in a "Survival Kit" project for the local firefighters and police officers; hosted a family event featuring "Bubble Wonders" and the Bubble Man; and ended the week with a "Hero" Parade around the church.

Little Angels is proud to be the only preschool in Barrington to have the nationally recognized National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation.

"All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life, and having this accreditation assures families who bring their children to our center that they are getting the best early childhood education possible," said Caren Hunter, director Little Angels Christian Preschool.

"Week of the Young Child is a time for Barrington to recognize that early years are learning years for all young children."

Week of the Young Child, sponsored by the NAEYC, is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.

Young children and their families depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start and bring lasting benefits to Barrington. Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children.

NAEYC is the largest organization of early childhood educators and others dedicated to improving the quality of early education programs for children birth through age 8. Founded in 1926, NAEYC has nearly 65,000 members and a national network of more than 300 local, state and regional affiliates.
