Fire causes $15,000 damage to Ginny O's Restaurant

A fire caused about $15,000 damage to a Pingree Grove restaurant Tuesday evening, authorities said.

The 6:20 p.m. fire at Ginny O's Restaurant, 2401 Route 20, resulted in no injuries, said Bill Misner, a shift supervisor with the Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District.

He said the fire started in the kitchen above the stove and carried inside the exhaust system.

The building fire suppression system put out most of the blaze quickly, he said. Firefighters who entered the kitchen knocked the rest of the blaze down by hand.

Misner said the fire caused about $5,000 damage to the structure, and about $10,000 damage to the business in lost products and items.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
