Home in Elgin retirement community damaged in fire

No one was injured in a fire in the Willow Lakes Estates retirement community Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
According to a news release from the Elgin Fire Department, when firefighters arrived at the building, a quadruple-wide manufactured home located on the 100 block of Bayview Rd., they found flames venting from a large room at the rear of the building's attached garage.
Crews entered through the garage and were able to quickly extinguish the fire and search the home, which they found to be unoccupied.
The fire caused around $40,000 worth of damage to the structure and around $15,000 to the home's contents
