Gunshot victim drives himself to Elgin hospital

A 28-year-old man was shot, then drove himself to the hospital Tuesday afternoon in Elgin, police said.

Police were called about 4:20 p.m. after the victim arrived at Presence St. Joseph Hospital. The man suffered a gunshot wound that is not life-threatening, police said.

It was unclear where the shooting took place.

Police said detectives from the police department's Gang Crimes Unit will be handling the investigation. They asked anyone with any information to call (847) 289-2974.
