Route 14 near Barrington reopens after five-vehicle crash

Eastbound Route 14 in unincorporated Lake County near Barrington is open after the five-vehicle accident around 7:30 a.m.

Crews have cleaned up after the crash between Cuba and Hart roads, Det. Chris Covelli of the Lake County Sheriff's Department said.

Covelli said one car was traveling east on Route 14 when it hit a stopped vehicle at 24th Street. The force of the impact caused a chain-reaction crash that involved five cars and eight total occupants.

He said no serious injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation and no citations have been issued, at least so far.
