Warm weather, colorful dyes brighten Wheaton 5K

Wheaton's streets were awash with bright colors Saturday morning after hundreds of runners completed the Wheaton Park District and Rotary Club of Wheaton A.M.'s third annual Fun Run in Color 5K.

Many runners started the race wearing white.

Throughout the course, their shirts took on unique tie-dye designs, as colorful biodegradable cornstarch was thrown on them at four color stations.

The un-timed run took participants on a route that wove along downtown streets, through Northside Park and back to the starting line in Memorial Park, where a final color throw took place.

Proceeds from the Fun Run in Color benefit local charities supported by the Rotary Club, along with the Play For All Playground & Garden Foundation, which maintains the Sensory Garden Playground near Danada.
