We need voter revolt to fix Illinois

Illinois voters, it's time for change I am amazed that the voters of Illinois continue to vote into office Democratic legislative members that are clearly incompetent.

The simple passing of a budget by the legislature that has $6 billion of spending greater than revenues is absolute proof. If the legislature really believes that all the spending is necessary, then it should have passed additional taxes in the budget to fund the spending.

Since it did not do that, then either the spending is not really necessary (and they could not rationally support more taxes) or they are incompetent for not raising taxes.

Gov. Rauner was voted into office to make changes. He rightly vetoed the out-of-balance budget. He wants the legislature to make decisions on spending cuts or more taxes, because that is their job. He wants a balanced budget.

This state has for a long time kicked the can down the road with respect to paying for all the spending in the budget and it is time to stop. That is why there is an unfunded pension crisis and why the state's debt rating is so low.

So legislators, either make spending reductions or increase taxes or do some of both, but submit a balanced budget.

If the legislature can't do that, then we need in Illinois a voter revolt like the one that took place in Wisconsin a few years ago to throw the Democrats out and give the Republicans a chance to balance the budget.

Now it is Illinois' turn to make changes, but it can only be done in the voting booth. Voters do your job!
