Three Joliet residents charged in Barrington shooting

Three Joliet residents have been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm after a shooting that left two people injured, one critically, early Sunday morning in Barrington.

Sherron P. Reed Jr, 20, of the 200 block of Sheridan Street, Brandon D. Campbell, 21, of the 400 block of Irving Street and Justin L. Crowder, 19, of the 1400 block of Eunice Avenue, attended the same party Saturday night, Barrington police said in a news release.

The three got into their car and were traveling home on Route 14 when a confrontation with people in another vehicle began, police said.

Reed, Campbell and Crowder fired shots with an AR-15 rifle from their moving vehicle into the victims' vehicle, which then crashed into a Canadian National railroad gate, according to the news release.

Barrington police responded to a call of a possible shooting near Route 14 and Shorely Drive at 3:09 a.m.

The two victims were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds, and one remains in critical condition.

Barrington police say the motive for the shooting is under investigation.

Reed, Campbell and Crowder will appear in Lake County bond court Wednesday.
