Round Lake man named club's Hometown Hero

Round Lake Area Exchange Club has named its April Hometown Hero.

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Zachary Dietz of Round Lake has been designated for the April recognition. He came to the attention of the Exchange Club from his father, Gerald Dietz of Round Lake.

Zachary Dietz is a 2012 graduate of Grant Township High School in Fox Lake. He is currently deployed as a nuclear engineer serving on the USS San Juan. He's engaged to Megan Legge, who is attending college to be an anesthesiologist.

His family is proud of his achievements. "He graduated from the Navy's Power School, top 10 in his class," Gerald Dietz said.

In recognition of the April honor, Zachary Dietz will receive a "Hanging with the Heroes" care package that will include pizza treats, chocolate and snacks, a personalized T-shirt and letters from Round Lake Area Unit District 116 students.

Plans also call for the Round Lake Area Exchange Club to present a plaque on behalf of Dietz at a meeting.

Round Lake Area Exchange Club seeks assistance in getting our local heroes recognized by the program. All military personnel serving overseas or in the United States from any of the Round Lake communities, Hainesville, Fox Lake, Ingleside or surrounding areas qualify.
