Two Battles of the Bands to be held in Palatine

Palatine Park District will offer two separate band competitions during summer 2016: the annual Teen Battle of the Bands and a new Adult Battle of the Bands. Applications to participate in these events are available at www.palatineparks.org under the Events tab and are due by Friday, April 15.

The Teen Battle of the Bands, presented with Salt Creek Park District, will take place on June 13 and is part of the Illinois Teen Battle of the Bands competition offered through the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA). The Illinois Teen Battle of the Bands is sponsored by Tribeca Flashpoint College. The Teen Battle of the Bands event has been held for over 25 years in Palatine. The winner of the teen battle will move on to compete in the regional event; the winner of the regional battle will compete in Springfield, IL at the statewide competition held during the state fair in August. To qualify for the teen category, band members must be between the ages of 12 and 20, and fifty percent of the band must be no older than 19 years as of August 15, 2016 to qualify for this age group. The presenting sponsor of this year's Palatine Teen Battle of the Bands is Quest Academy.

The new Adult Battle of the Bands will take place on August 3. This event is for musicians ages 21 and over. The winner of the Adult Battle of the Bands will have the opportunity to perform at the Village of Palatine's Street Fest in August. The presenting sponsor of the Adult Battle of the Bands is Lake Cook Exteriors, Inc.

Both battle concerts will take place at the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, Palatine. In the event of inclement weather, the Teen Battle would be held in the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood Street, and the Adult Battle would be rescheduled.
