More Muslims must follow writer's example

Re: Riyaz Ahmed's April 5 letter strongly condemning terrorists, how they do not know the Quran and do not belong to Islam. I believe it's time for the Muslim world to unite against terrorist who are using a radical form of Islam to inspire violence.

Riyaz is a good Muslim like one billion others that need to speak out as strongly as they can against terrorists. Since there is no centralized religious hierarchy like the pope to condemn them it's up to the entire Muslim world to speak out.

These misguided terrorist believe they have the authentic voice of Islam, that they are doing God's will and will be rewarded by going to heaven. I think not!

Back in 2004 and 2005, King Abdullah 11 of Jordan tried to stop this distortion by gathering together over 200 of the highest Islamic scholars from over 50 countries and created "the Amman Message" and the "Three points of the Amman Message," which emphasizes Islam's core values of compassion, mutual respect, tolerance and acceptance and freedom of religion.

This message hasn't been getting out to the terrorists and people who are thinking of becoming one.

Now, 11 years later, we are still faced with terrorism and it seems to be growing. Riyaz made an excellent start in denouncing terrorism in the letters column, but it is time now for all Muslims to speak out and take action to eradicate terrorism.
