Schaumburg extends scholarship application deadline

Schaumburg is extending its deadline to apply for the 23rd annual Community Scholarship to Friday, April 22, officials said Tuesday.

The program is offered by Schaumburg Village President Al Larson in cooperation with Business and Career Services, Inc., and provides scholarship money to qualified residents to pursue educational training, upgrading or retraining.

Scholarships can be applied toward tuition, books and any other commensurate educational expenses. A committee will select all winners of the program.

Candidates must submit a completed application and two references by 3 p.m. April 22 to Office of the President, 101 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg, IL 60193. For a list of eligibility requirements and to access the application online, visit www.ci.schaumburg.il.us/offic/villoffic/Pages/23rdAnnualCommunityScholarship.aspx.

Scholarship recipients will not receive cash. Payment will go directly to the recipient's educational institution for tuition, fees, books and approved supplies.

Recipients will be notified by Friday, May 13, or as soon as possible thereafter. The scholarship is valid until June 15, 2017, and is nonrenewable.
