Batavia woman pleads guilty to 2014 robbery

A 26-year-old woman faces prison after pleading guilty to luring an acquaintance to downtown Batavia in January 2014 so he could be robbed.

Myriah R. Rogers, of the 500 block of Illinois Avenue, Batavia, pleaded guilty Thursday to felony aggravated robbery, according to her attorney and Kane County court records. Her sentence ranges from probation to between four and 15 years in prison when she's sentenced June 23.

According to police, Rogers lured a male acquaintance the night of Jan. 10 to the 100 block of First Street. When the man arrived and was talking with Rogers another man jumped him from behind.

The victim scuffled with his attacker and escaped by wiggling out of his jacket, dropping his cellphone and leaving it at the scene. Rogers was arrested a couple weeks later.

Defense attorney Glenn Sowa declined to comment.

Rogers has been free on $3,500 bond. According to court records, her only previous criminal offense was an August 2009 arrest in Batavia for underage drinking. She entered the county's pretrial diversion program for that offense.
