Lindenhurst kids make 400 Easter baskets

Children at the Lindenhurst Early Childhood Center took on a special project this week - helping others.

They prepared more than 400 Easter baskets Tuesday and Wednesday. Fifty bags were made for seniors at Victory Lakes Independent Living.

The baskets are filled with food, treats and stuffed animals for children in DCFS Foster Care Division, Kid's Hope United, Safe Place, Allendale, Lake County Housing Authority, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Vista Health System, as well as the Lake Villa, PLAN and Open Arms Mission food pantries.

It was a collaborative community effort - the baskets were donated by the 100% Foundation, the bags are from Uline, food and candy from the parents with children at the center, stuffed animals from Jim and Helen Harney and $100 in candy from a local student who donated their birthday money.
