Chicago man accused of making 100 harassing phone calls to Lake County jail

A 27-year-old Chicago man is held on $50,000 bail after making more than 100 harassing phone calls to the Lake County jail this week, authorities said Tuesday.

Dantrell L. Williams, of the 2800 block of West Polk Street, has been charged with felony disorderly conduct and a misdemeanor charge of harassment by telephone after admitting to making the threatening calls to the jail March 12 and March 13, Lake County Sheriff's Det. Christopher Covelli said.

Covelli said Williams used a blocked telephone number to make threatening and sexual comments during the calls.

During one call, Williams allegedly told a sheriff's employee, “I'm going to get a gun and shoot everything up,” Covelli said.

Detectives traced the calls to a West Polk Street address, then determined Williams had been previously arrested on charges of making harassing telephone calls in Gurnee and Lake Villa, Covelli said.

Williams was arrested at his home Tuesday, and admitted to making the calls to the jail, Covelli said. Williams is due in court Thursday.
