Des Plaines History Center hosts book discussion

Copies of "Empty Mansions" by Bill Dedman are now available at the readers services desk at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St. The book will be discussed at the Des Plaines History Center, 781 Pearson St., from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16. Adults and high school students are welcome.

Readers are invited to explore the world of the reclusive heiress Huguette Clark and her family in this best-seller. "Empty Mansions" is a true story that is more than a biography and more than a book about extreme wealth.

The author expertly details America in the Gilded Age and thereafter to create a spellbinding read about a mysterious woman.

Copies of the book can be checked out at the Des Plaines Public Library on the third floor. Call the History Center at (847) 391-5399 to register. This event is co-sponsored by the History Center and the Des Plaines Public Library.
