Elgin police arrest 2nd woman in torture of Elgin teen with lit cigarettes

Elgin police Friday arrested a second person in the kidnapping and torture of a 19-year-old woman last weekend, police said Saturday in a news release.

Ruby Gomez, 20, of the 100 block of South Clifton Avenue, Elgin, has been charged with home invasion, aggravated kidnapping inflicting great bodily harm, aggravated battery with a caustic substance and aggravated battery torture, police said. Gomez is being held at the Kane County jail on $350,000 bail and would have to post $35,000 to be released while the case is pending.

Elgin police still are searching for a male and two females.

Elgin police were called at 6:55 a.m. Feb. 27 to the 300 block of Raymond Street in Elgin to investigate a report of a 19-year-old female being held against her will.

The victim told police she was with her ex-boyfriend at a home on the 500 block of Levine Court in Elgin when four females entered and with his help, forcibly removed her from the home and put her in a vehicle. The female suspects began to beat the victim in the vehicle, and the physical assaults continued after she was taken to Raymond Drive, where she was held against her will, police said.

Megan A. Lino, 19, of the 600 block of Jefferson Avenue, Carpentersville, was charged earlier in the week with numerous felonies, including aggravated kidnapping and torture, in connection with the case. Court records stated that she "burned (the victim's) back and shoulder's bare skin with lit cigarettes."
