Carpentersville teen accused of kidnapping, torturing another teen

Elgin police have arrested a 19-year-old woman from Carpentersville and are looking for four more suspects involved in a kidnapping and torture of another teen over the weekend.

Megan Lino, of the 600 block of Jefferson Avenue, faces multiple felony charges, including home invasion, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery/inflicting great bodily harm, aggravated battery/caustic substance and aggravated battery/torture.

Elgin police were called to the 300 block of Raymond Street in Elgin at 6:55 a.m. Saturday to investigate reports of a 19-year-old female being held against her will. The woman was taken to a hospital for her injuries but has been released, said Elgin police Commander Colin Fleury.

The victim told investigators she had been at a home on the 500 block of Levine Court in Elgin with her ex-boyfriend when four females entered, and with his help, forcibly removed her and put her in a vehicle, where the other female suspects began to beat her, police said. The suspects drove her to Raymond Drive, where the physical assaults continued, police said.

The victim was able to identify Lino, who was arrested and charged. Police said they are still seeking the male and three other females involved.

Fleury declined to say when the victim said she was abducted, how long she was held, what happened to her or what type of torture she was subjected to, and what her relationship was with her attackers.

Lino is next due in court on March 16 and is being held at the Kane County jail on $150,000 bail, meaning she must post $15,000 to be released while the case is pending.

If convicted of the most serious charges, Lino faces six to 30 years in prison without the chance of probation.
