Waukegan police seek man who robbed bank

Waukegan police are seeking the public's help to track down a man who robbed Waukegan bank Tuesday afternoon.

According to a news release, the man robbed the BMO Harris Bank at 3113 N. Lewis Ave. without showing or mentioning a weapon.

Waukegan police Cmdr. Joe Florip said the bank activated an alarm at 1:15 p.m. and police were on the scene within minutes, but the man had already fled.

The man, whom police described as black and about 6 feet tall, was recorded by security cameras both inside and outside the bank.

"We are really hoping that those photos, though a bit grainy, can trigger somebody's memory and identify the suspect," Florip said.

"The majority of these cases are solved through tips."

Anyone with information about the robbery should call the Waukegan Police Department's tip line at (847) 360-9001.
