DNA evidence leads to arrest in Des Plaines-area rapes
A 30-year-old man whose DNA matches evidence from two previously unsolved sexual assaults in the Des Plaines area was arrested Sunday, officials said Wednesday.
According to a news release from the Cook County sheriff's office, LaMarcus Anderson, who lives on the 8800 block of Carleah Street, was charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault from attacks on July 3, 2015, and Nov. 3, 2015.
According to the release, Anderson was identified in each of the assaults - which happened at or near his home - but additional investigation was necessary, authorities said
Last Thursday, sheriff's police discovered a match with a DNA sample from Anderson that was taken after his 2009 conviction for a string of burglaries near Des Plaines.
Anderson's bail was set at $200,000 on Monday.
