Schaumburg Boomers trade pitcher for two players

Looking to add some offensive punch to their lineup, the Schaumburg Boomers traded all-star pitcher Eddie Cody to the Sioux City Explorers for first baseman Ino Patron and a player to be named later.

The 23-year-old Patron, who hits left, had a standout career at at Long Beach State from 2011-2014. In his rookie season in the American Association, however, Patron batted just .246 in 22 games with Sioux City.

"He is a natural hitter and a great defender at first base," said Boomers manager Jamie Bennett. "He fills a much needed role for us."

Cody was 18-5 over the past two seasons in Schaumburg.
