Middleby CEO named to Nation's Restaurant News power list

Selim A. Bassoul, chairman and CEO of The Middleby Corp., based in Elgin has been named to the Nation's Restaurant News 2016 Power List, Reader's Choice.

This list highlights the most powerful people in the restaurant industry, as chosen by the readers of NRN.

"I am honored to be included in such outstanding company of industry leaders, many of whom are our customers," Bassoul said. "My goal is for the Middleby brands to continue to lead the industry in bringing the latest innovation, energy and water savings, automation and operating cost reductions to restaurants around the world."

Bassoul was recently named CEO of the Year by Finance Monthly Magazine, and he was honored at the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year event for forming a partnership with other entrepreneurs and creating an oven which enables refugees to have an easier way to prepare meals.

His foundation, the Bassoul Dignity Foundation, puts those who have been rehabilitated back into the restaurant workforce.

The company is a manufacturer of equipment for the commercial food service, food processing and residential kitchen industries.
