Arlington Heights resident Carole Knanishu had both a horse and a pony visit her in her home Tuesday. The terminally ill 73-year-old has suffered from multiple sclerosis for decades, and when family members learned she had only a few days left to live, Knanishu's son called Marengo's Glory Bound Rescue Ranch to see anyone could bring some horses to the home. “It was quite a circus,” Olson said. State won't remind you if you need a vehicle emissions test
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency announced Tuesday it will no longer notify residents by mail when their vehicle needs a vehicle emissions test. This comes on top of the state's discontinuance of mailing Illinois residents reminders to renew their vehicle registration. The state says residents can sign up for email reminders. Full story.
Wheaton College students to begin fast of ‘embodied solidarity'
Hundreds of Wheaton College students, alumni and supporters are expected to gather outside the college's Edman Memorial Chapel today to announce a nationwide fast for the Lenten season. The fast will focus on solidarity and is, in part, a response to the treatment of political science professor Larycia Hawkins, who was put on leave in December after saying Muslims and Christians worship the same God. District 207 looking into complaints about Maine South pool
Maine Township High School District 207 officials are investigating complaints that the Maine South High School pool has caused breathing problems for some members of the boys swimming team.
