Stop bank fees for government services

The Illinois secretary of state has eliminated mailing reminders for license plate renewals. This has already caused chaos for some people. It will cause more chaos for those that avoid using the Internet since they will be unable to receive an email notification, but that is not my issue. My issue is the transaction fees the DMV charges for purchasing the stickers and driver's licenses.

The cost Illinois drivers face for renewing the plates by credit card was raised as well. Most credit card transaction fees are based on a percentage of the transaction itself (3-5 percent) and the volume of transactions. So how much is the state, banks and interchanges making off these transactions? Why does the government allow these fees after the citizens of the U.S.A. helped bail out the banks? How many bank execs got bonuses on the DMV account?

Banks are again making record profits but banks keep piling on more fees because bank execs know bank services are required for commerce. I would consider this a monopoly.

I believe that any electronic transaction for governmental services should be free of any transaction fees. Our elected officials made the banking laws and can change them as well.
