'Fruits & Veggies To The Rescue!' in Palatine

Durty Nellie's' hosting free kids healthy eating classes!

Submitted by Nina Vanderwiel

"Fruits & Veggies To The Rescue!" is a fun and interactive program that taps into kids' imaginations and love of superheroes, inspiring them to love and eat fruits and veggies every day to lead healthier lives.

The Dolezal Family, owners of Durty Nellie's is sponsoring this innovative program to help fight childhood obesity.

Nina Vanderwiel, Crystal Lake mom of three, knows firsthand how hard it can be to persuade kids to eat their fruits and veggies. So, she came up with a fun, interactive and innovative program now offered in schools, libraries, park districts in Chicago and its suburbs.

"My goal is to ensure kids have fun, learn about the importance of fruits and veggies for their body and want to eat more (and try more) in class and home every day!"

Kids become part of an interactive show featuring superheroes, junk food characters, zany bubble machine and creative activities. Plus, healthy cooking classes for older kids.

Classes are free and start in February for kids ages 4-14. Classes will be held at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine.
