Mount Prospect awarded for budget, financial reports

Mount Prospect's 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association, the village announced this month.

The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet high standards, including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story, according to the GFOA.

The village also was awarded Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, which reflects a commitment to meeting the highest principals of government budgeting, according to the GFOA.

"The village's finance team goes to great lengths to develop a complete annual budget and CAFR that provide open communication when it comes to village finances," Finance Director David Erb said in a news release. "The documents go beyond numbers alone - they paint a picture for the public of the policies we have in place and how we are serving our community."
