Centegra care facility opening in West Dundee

The Tartans Crossing shopping center in West Dundee will have an anchor tenant with the opening of a new Centegra care facility this spring, village officials said.

Anticipating the opening of a new hospital in Huntley, Centegra started seeking locations nearby for an immediate care center that would provide walk-in services and access to local health care, said Hadley Streng, Centegra Health System's vice president of strategy and development.

"We wanted to determine if there were certain communities in need of additional medical services," she said. "We thought it'd be a great addition to the Dundees, Carpentersville and surrounding areas."

The facility will offer several health services, such as immediate and primary care, walk-in services, occupational health and a medical imaging center with X-rays, Streng said. It will also have physical therapy and sports medicine services.

Construction is underway at the roughly 7,000-square-foot space off Huntley Road and is expected to be completed in March, Streng said. The facility will likely open by late spring, she said, pending approval from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Between the expansion of The Chubby Bullfrog Bar & Grill and the care facility moving into a vacant space, which has never before been occupied, the center will be close to full, Village President Chris Nelson said.

"I think (the care facility) will prove to be very beneficial, not only for bringing care to the area, but also for a positive spillover effect of additional traffic that having a tenant like that can bring to the rest of the center," said Community Development Director Tim Scott. "It'll be the most active it's been in a long time."

Additionally, Nelson said, Huntley Road is slated for reconstruction in the near future, which will make the center more accessible.

"The fact that we've been establishing some positive momentum with the downtown and with Spring Hill Mall - it allows operators to see there are some positive things happening in West Dundee," Nelson said. "It has a carry-over effect, and that was fully the intent."
