Perry, Kesler each score 2 in Ducks' 4-3 win over Red Wings

DETROIT (AP) - A snowstorm on the East Coast didn't prevent the Anaheim Ducks from getting to Detroit - and it didn't halt their momentum.

Corey Perry and Ryan Kesler each scored twice to lift the Ducks to a 4-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night.

The Ducks have won four straight on the road against the Red Wings and they haven't lost a regulation game in Detroit since Nov. 5, 2011. With the victory, the Ducks have won five of their last seven games, outscoring opponents 22-15.

"We're already a bit in playoff mode," Kesler said. "We know every game is important and it's important that we get the points."

Anaheim was snowed out of its game against the Capitals in Washington D.C. on Friday night, but managed to reach Detroit without much trouble.

Darren Helm, Tomas Jurco and Danny DeKeyser scored for the Red Wings, who have not won at home in their last five games (0-4-1).

"We're usually a lot better at home, getting more wins here," Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg said. "We just need to go out and play the way we're supposed to play. I think as soon as we get away from that, the other team gets turnovers and then it's really hard to play."

Detroit defenseman Brendan Smith passed from his own zone to a streaking Helm, who deked Anaheim goaltender John Gibson and opened the scoring at 1:10 of the first period. It marked the first time the Red Wings had scored in the opening period in five games.

The Ducks tied it at 7:26 of the first when Jakob Silfverberg found Kesler in front of the net, and Kesler beat Jimmy Howard.

Corey Perry made it 2-1 for Anaheim with 1:24 left in the opening period when he and Rickard Rakell came in on a partial 2-on-1 breakaway and Perry beat Howard on a backhand shot.

"I thought they looked impressive," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "I didn't think we managed the puck well enough. So when you turn pucks over, you end up playing more in your end, you end up not being able to apply as much pressure as we want to apply. Overall, not good enough."

The Red Wings juggled their line combinations midway through the second period, and the move worked as Jurco scored at 9:21 to tie it. It was Jurco's second goal of the season and first since Dec. 8 at Washington.

Perry put the Ducks up 3-2 when he curled behind Patrick Maroon, who was in front of the net, and beat Howard for his team-leading 19th goal at 2:28 of the third.

"Patty's a big body and he creates a lot of room," Perry said. "We cycled the puck and controlled it in their zone tonight and when you have somebody that can do that, it creates a lot of room."

Kesler got his second goal of the game four minutes later when he sidestepped two Red Wings and put the puck under Howard's right arm.

"I think we had a lot of energy, especially in the third period," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "They played last night and we played especially well."

DeKeyser scored a late goal with the extra attacker with 1:16 left to cut the lead to 4-3.
