Rachel Barton Pine to visit Park Ridge

World-Famous Violinist will Solo with the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra

The Park Ridge Civic Orchestra presents Rachel Barton Pine in concert on January 27th at the Pickwick Theatre. Hailed as "the most charismatic, the most virtuosic, and the most compelling American violinist of her generation," Ms. Pine enjoys worldwide recognition for her prodigious talents in both classical and popular music.

Ms. Pine is slated to play the Beethoven Violin Concerto. She will perform her own cadenzas, virtuosic passages played without orchestral accompaniment, that showcase her phenomenal gifts at the instrument. A Chicago native, she has made a name for herself far beyond the local scene, traveling the world and meeting with acclaim wherever she goes.

Ms. Pine is dedicated to students and she will visit Maine South and Maine East high schools on January 26th to present interactive master classes. She reaches young musicians through her philanthropic foundation, whose current projects include an instrument loan program and a supplemental curriculum of music for strings by composers of African descent.

Returning to the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra, this marks Rachel Barton Pine's fourth appearance with the ensemble in 22 years. It is a relationship made closer by the friendship between Ms. Pine and the Muenzer family, founders of the PRCO, who between them share a love of violin performance. The concert will be conducted by PRCO Music Director Victor Muenzer.

This is a rare opportunity for Chicago-area audiences to hear Rachel Barton Pine in person performing Beethoven's Violin Concerto, on a program that includes Mahler's beloved 1st symphony. And at $20-$25 ticket prices, with a full professional symphony, a better music bargain cannot be found. The evening promises to be a performance highlight of the year.
