Blackhawks' Quenneville set to pass Arbour's 782-win mark

With 2 more victories, Joel Quenneville will become the second-winningest coach in NHL history, passing Al Arbour, who won 782 games from 1971-1994.

(Arbour, who passed away last year, did get 1 win in 2008 coaching the Islanders).

"I've always been around good teams and good players," Quenneville said. "It's been fun."

If the Hawks beat Nashville on Tuesday at the United Center, Quenneville can pass Arbour Queon Thursday when the Hawks play at Montreal.

Scotty Bowman has the most coaching victories in NHL history with 1,244.

"I've said this before: I would have loved to have the opportunity to play for Joel," said Eddie Olczyk, who spent five of his 16 NHL seasons as a Blackhawk. "Just seeing how he is from my job and seeing how he intermingles with the players and talking to the players about Joel - not only here, but in St. Louis and (with) guys that I really respect.

"He is a player's coach and the success speaks for itself."

Quenneville had 307 victories with the Blues from 1996-2004, 131 wins with Colorado from 2005-08 and he has 343 with the Blackhawks, who he joined after four games were played in the 2008-09 season.
