Roselle home heavily damaged by fire

No injuries were reported in a fire Saturday that displaced residents of a Roselle home, authorities said.

Firefighters were called about 4 p.m. on a report of smoke coming from the top of a house on the 100 block of West

Forest Avenue. Crews arrived about three minutes later and saw smoke by the roof, near a chimney for a wood-burning fireplace.

Once inside the home, firefighters found heavy smoke on the second floor and heavy fire in the attic.

Crews remained at the home for three hours Saturday and had to remove sections of the rear wall and roof to extinguish the blaze, officials said.

Fire and water caused significant damage and left the home uninhabitable, officials said. Estimates of the cost of the damage weren't immediately available.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
