Northbrook Symphony Orchestra Celebrates Mozart's Brilliance at Jan. 17 Concert

The Northbrook Symphony Orchestra is pleased to honor the genius of Mozart during its "Celestial Brilliance" concert on Sunday, Jan. 17, featuring guest pianist Andrew Guo from the Music Institute of Chicago Academy.

"The eternal brilliance of Mozart's genius will be on display during our performance, which will highlight a trio of his major works," stated Lawrence Rapchak, music director of the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra. "And speaking of brilliance, our young soloist, Andrew Guo, is a superb pianist who brings a phenomenal level of musical insight, clarity and subtlety to this music."

Guest artist Andrew Guo will perform Mozart's happiest piano concerto, Piano Concerto No. 17 in G Major, complete with its variation finale. Framing the concert will be two of Mozart's most exuberant symphonies, Symphony No. 28 in C Major and Symphony No. 30 in D Major.

"We are excited to celebrate Mozart and honor his brilliance at our upcoming concert," said Jim Karagianis, Northbrook Symphony Orchestra board president.

The Northbrook Symphony Orchestra is dedicating this concert to the memory of Howard Helfrich, a NSO board member for many years, whose initiated projects continue to this day. Howard also served in the Marine Corps and was a tennis and basketball coach at Glenbrook North High School.

"Celestial Brilliance" will be performed on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. at the Sheely Center for the Performing Arts, located on the campus of Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook. There will be a free pre-concert lecture for attendees given by lecturer Jim Kendros at 2:30 p.m.

Purchase tickets by calling 847-272-0755 or visiting www.northbrooksymphony.org. Tickets range in price from $30-50 for adults and $8 for children and students.
