New Horizons Preschool opens its doors

Today's parents are faced with a number of options when it comes to preschool for their child, and choosing the right fit can be difficult.

The New Horizons Preschool is opening its doors to prospective parents from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, to allow parents the opportunity to meet teachers, explore classrooms and learn more about the play-based program.

Children also are welcome to attend. The preschool is inside the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St.

New Horizons Preschool is a program of the Batavia Park District. It is designed to provide an opportunity for social and emotional growth, as well as a beginning adjustment to a more formal school experience. The program is based on the philosophy that children learn more through play.

A knowledgeable staff works together to provide a safe environment. Children are encouraged to think independently, be creative and freely explore in a structured atmosphere.

The New Horizons school year runs from the day after Labor Day in September to the Friday before Memorial Day in May. Registration will be open to current participants and Batavia Park District residents Monday, Jan. 11, and to nonresidents Monday, Feb. 8.
