Carol Stream man killed in accident at Chicago's Ford plant

A Carol Stream man was killed and another worker was seriously injured after a wall collapsed Saturday at the Ford Motor Co.'s Chicago Assembly Plant.

Chicago police were called about 10:48 a.m. Saturday to the accident, which fire officials said happened in a part of the plant that was under construction in the 12600 block of south Torrence Avenue. A section of a concrete wall collapsed.

John Jaloway, 45, was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 11:11 a.m., Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said. Another man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition.

In a statement, Ford officials said the contract worker was killed in the construction accident and another worker was injured while trying to help.

Company officials say they're cooperating fully in the investigation.
