Christmas damaged by political correctness
During World War II, the Nazi party banned the celebration of Christmas. After the allied victory and the rebuilding of Germany, the people once again celebrated Christmas and wished each other merry Christmas.
Instead of the Gestapo, now we have the politically-correct police. Fear of offending people with merry Christmas has changed the expression to "happy holidays." No longer do we have a Christmas tree but a holiday tree and only selected songs are sung in our public schools.
If this decorated tree is a holiday tree, why is it only displayed in the months of November and December? We should use this symbol for other holidays such as Labor Day and 4th of July.
Does this sound foolish? Not really, since these are recognized holidays as well.
One would think with all the activities going on around them, people would have their minds on things other than being offended. A simple greeting of merry Christmas is a show of friendship and joy.
The way things are going, the Grinch that stole Christmas is not just a fictional story but a reality!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
