Queen of the Rosary School Participates in Hour of Code

During Computer Science Week, the week of December 7-13, 2015, students at Queen of the Rosary School participated in Hour of Code™. The Hour of Code™ is an initiative by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org to expand participation and interest in computer science in schools worldwide.

For the third year in a row, Hour of Code™ gave the kindergarten through eighth grade students at the Elk Grove school an exciting opportunity to learn basic computer programming in a fun, simple way. Using a paired programming approach, computer teacher Paul Labant had students tackling Star Wars, Angry Birds, Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Tynker, Lightbot, Scratch, and JavaScript.

Although Hour of Code™ is a one-week event, many students continue to use what they learned about coding, or programming, during their Hour of Code™ experience.
