Wheaton College puts professor on leave as she wears hijab

The Wheaton College professor who was showing solidarity with Muslim women by wearing a hijab was put on administrative leave by the college last night over comments she made about the relationship between Christianity and Islam. Dr. Larycia Hawkins posted photos of herself wearing the hijab on social media accounts. The effort follows a what turned out to be a controversial Vernon High School effort in which non-Muslim students wore hijabs in a cultural awareness lesson. Full story.

COD trustees tussle over taking documents

College of DuPage board Trustees Dianne McGuire and Erin Birt took documents that were supposed to stay on campus out of the Glen Ellyn school. McGuire and Birt took the college's legal bills for August, September, October and November off the campus once they realized how long it would take them to review the 500 pages of material. McGuire said new board Chairwoman Deanne Mazzochi threatened to have them arrested; Mazzochi denies it. Full story.

Police ID pedestrian killed in Elgin crash
