Lincolnshire creates anti-union right-to-work zone

Lincolnshire last night became the first town in the suburbs to establish itself as a right-to-work zone, a move critics have assailed as anti-union. It's also a move experts say is sure to face a legal challenge. To create the zone, the village board approved an ordinance preventing local employers from requiring workers to pay union dues with payroll deductions. That proposal was a major tenet of Gov. Bruce Rauner's controversial Turnaround Agenda for Illinois, which many people have blasted as being anti-union. U-46 OKs new boundaries despite Latino parents' objection

Elgin schools officials adopted controversial boundary changes last night, disregarding the pleas of several Latino parents who called it "discrimination" and "racism" to move only Hispanic students from one school. Trucking facility plan concerns Elgin residents

Residents who live near a proposed new trucking and warehouse facility on the southeast side of Elgin oppose the plan, saying it will increase traffic and noise in the neighborhood.
