Tires slashed on as many as 200 vehicles in Libertyville

Libertyville police continue to investigate after someone slashed the tires on as many as 200 vehicles.

Damage estimates are likely in the thousands of dollars after the spree that took place between 9 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday., police said.

Police responding to a report of criminal damage to a vehicle on the 700 block of Eton Court on Friday morning found the tires had been slashed.

A large amount of the damage happened at car dealerships along Milwaukee Avenue near Golf Road, as well as many others in the residential neighborhood nearby.

Dealerships affected include Toyota, more than 40 vehicles, Olds Buick, 3; Ford, 12; Cadillac, 15; Lincoln, 1; Honda, 28; Mitsubishi, 3; Infinity, 18.

Officers were unsure if there was surveillance video from any of the car dealerships that showed the vandalism.

Anyone whose tires were damaged and has not spoken with a police officer should call or visit the police station, 200 E. Cook Ave., and provide their vehicle make, model, year, license plate, and description of damage. Anyone who saw anything or anyone suspicious in the southeast part of town during that time should call (847) 362-8310.
