Two injured in Palatine shooting Thursday

Palatine police are investigating a shooting in an apartment complex that left two men injured, officials said, adding they believe it is related to gangs

Palatine officers were called to the 1900 block of Green Lane Road after gunshots were heard at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, officials said in a news release.

Responding officers to the Baldwin Green Apartments found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, officials said.

The victims - ages 17 and 35 - were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital by the Palatine Fire Department and were still under treatment there Friday afternoon, officials said.

Police said physical evidence and witness statements indicate that the unknown offender approached the victims on foot and shot them with a handgun, leading police to believe it was gang-related and not a random act.

The victim's names and conditions were not released.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or believes they have information related to the shooting is urged to call the police department at (847) 359-9000, or the Palatine-Inverness Crime Stoppers at (847) 590-STOP.
