Elgin pair arrested on cocaine charges

An Elgin woman and a Carpentersville man are in Kane County jail after Elgin police raided a residence on the 300 block of North Liberty Street and found them to be in possession of cocaine.

According to an Elgin police news release issued Wednesday, police decided to raid the residence after receiving many reports of drugs being sold there.

During the raid, police found cocaine and "items indicative of drug sales," according to the news release.

After the raid, police arrested Lesa L. McQuinn, a 38-year old who lives in the residence, and Matthew Thon, of the 4300 Block of Grandview Court in Carpentersville.

McQuinn was charged with possession of a controlled substance, intending to deliver the controlled substance and intending to deliver the controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school. Thon was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

At a Wednesday morning hearing in Kane County bond court, McQuinn's bail was set at $75,000 and Thon's was set at $20,000. Neither were able to post bail and both were taken to Kane County jail.
