Art Van Furniture to open in Schaumburg next June

Art Van Furniture has received permission to make the necessary changes to open a new store by June 1 in the former Dominick's at the southwest corner of Meacham and Higgins roads in Schaumburg.

Anticipated changes to the building include a 900-square-foot addition near the dock area along the back, demolition of the existing front brick canopy and removal of green standing seam metal roof features at both ends of the property.

The Schaumburg village board unanimously authorized the changes Tuesday. Schaumburg officials first announced the potential new tenant for the abandoned Dominick's in August.

The official approval means Schaumburg has successfully filled both of its former Dominick's stores.

Itasca-based Tony's Finer Foods is expected to open in mid-2016 in the former Dominick's in Schaumburg's Town Square, at the southwest corner of Schaumburg and Roselle roads.
