Teravainen happy to be back on Chicago Blackhawks' top line

Teuvo Teravainen is back where he wants to be … on the Chicago Blackhawks' top line.

For now, anyway.

The young Finn, disappointed with his play all season, has been reunited with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa during the Hawks' last two games. He broke a 10-game goal-scoring drought Sunday when he sniped a shot from a bad angle past goalie Michael Hutchinson 21 seconds into the third period of the Hawks' 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

“It wasn't the hardest shot; just tried to be quick to shoot it,” Teravainen said.

The top line scored the first 2 goals, the other coming when Marian Hossa found a gift in front of the net 17:56 into the first period. The trio took 11 of the Hawks' 32 shots on net and were a combined plus-6 rating.

“It's getting more comfortable every time when I get there with those guys,” Teravainen said. “I know better where they're at when I get the puck.”

Coach Joel Quenneville tried this line combination at the start of the season and is now hoping he can count on it for consistent scoring and energy.

Teravainen, for one, is excited to be back playing with what he called “the best players in the league” in Toews and Hossa.

“It's nice, of course,” Teravainen said. “That's where I want to be and I've got to work hard to be on that line. We're still looking to get our game going, but it's great that we got a couple goals. I think that will help us for sure.

“We've just got to have some fun. That other line (of Patrick Kane, Artemi Panarin and Artem Anisimov) is having a lot of fun out there. We've got to do the same.”

Said Quenneville: “You've got everything on that line — you've got skill, you've got speed, you've got responsibilities. They usually handle a heavy workload.

“We've tried it a little bit earlier, but didn't give it an extended look. But we feel like it should be a line that we can rely on.”
