$100 to fuel commute to better job

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Ann Rocha of Glenview.

Here is an excerpt of her story:

"I would like to give your generous gift of $100 to the Peter family this Christmas. They are here as religious refugees from Pakistan and are struggling with the changes in their lives and acclimating to American ways of life.

"Azam, the father, rides his bike to his part-time, $8.25 an hour job. Winter is approaching. He has been offered a better job but has no way of getting to it.

"I have found a car to be donated to them, but the costs of gas and insurance will be a burden. The tiny apartment they live in is infested with bugs despite our best efforts to eradicate the bugs.

"I believe helping the family with a car and gas will give them a chance of success."

• The Believe Project is awarding $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else. Submit your idea in 150 words or fewer at events.dailyherald.com/believe-project.
