Geneva plans special brush pickup

Did Saturday's heavy snow and wind cause branches to crack and tumble into your yard?

It happened enough in Geneva to warrant a special brush pickup beginning Monday.

Residents can place the brush curbside by 7 a.m. Monday. City workers will make one pass through the city.

Stack the brush with the cut ends facing in one direction, toward the curb or edge of the pavement. Don't stick them in the street.

Limbs must be less than 12 inches in diameter.

Don't tie them in to bundles. Stumps and roots will not be collected.

The final leaf pickup for Zone C will also be conducted that week. Leaf pickup for zones A and B is complete.

The leaf map is at geneva.il.us.

Leaves also may be placed in brown-paper yard-waste bag and disposed of for free Dec. 1-26. Yard waste, mulch and grass clippings will not be accepted.

For more information about the brush and leaf programs, visit the city website or call (630) 232-1501.

Batavia

In Batavia, the snowstorm delayed completion of the final curbside leaf pickups. Weather-permitting, city that will resume when the snow melts, through next week.

"We're lucky we got a break in the weather now," City Administrator Bill McGrath said. Residents may also dispose of leaves Dec. 1-26 for free, in brown-paper yard-waste bags.
