One hurt in Elgin shooting

One person was wounded in a shooting in Elgin on Thursday night, police said.

Officers were called to the 800 block of East Chicago Street about 8 p.m. and found a male victim with gunshot wounds that weren't believed to be life-threatening, police said in a news release.

The victim was taken to Presence Saint Joseph's Hospital for treatment.

No more information was available about the victim or potential suspects.

The department's gang crimes unit is investigating the shooting, the release said.
