Carol Stream wants to honor top citizens

The Carol Stream Citizen of the Year Committee is still looking for nominees for its annual awards.

Residents and community organizations can make a nomination for the 2015 Citizen of the Year award, Special Citizen of the Year award and the Judges Recognition award.

The awards have been given out since 1965.

The Citizen of the Year award is presented to a resident for recognition of volunteer service provided to the community.

The Special Citizen of the Year award recognizes a person who has provided five or more years of continuous volunteer service to the community.

The Judges Recognition award is presented to a person living outside Carol Stream who has provided exemplary volunteer service in the village.

Applications are due on or before Dec. 18 and are available online at www.citizenoftheyear.com

The Carol Stream Citizen of the Year Committee will honor all nominees during a public ceremony and banquet at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream Feb. 6.
