Woodland students at Gurnee firehouse ceremony

Students from Woodland Intermediate School in Gurnee will participate in the annual "Keep the Wreath Red" ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at the village fire station at 6581 Dada Drive. Keep the Wreath Red is a program encouraging the Gurnee community to practice care with holiday decorations this season. As part of the program, both Gurnee Fire Stations display a wreath with red lights. If a fire is caused by holiday decorations, one of the light bulbs will be changed to white in remembrance of the incident. "Our students will play an active part in the effort to keep the wreath lit in red lights," said Woodland Intermediate Assistant Principal Tim Tyrell.
