Metal detecting company to hold open house

Minelab, the world leader in providing metal detecting technologies for consumer, humanitarian demining and military needs, will hold a Metal Detector Showcase from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, near the company's headquarters in Lisle.

The free event in the Arbor Ballroom at the Hyatt Lisle Hotel, 1400 Corporetum Drive, will allow novice and seasoned metal detectorists to bring in their own metal detectors for advice, to test Minelab's equipment and to speak with industry experts.

The company will showcase the newest and most innovative metal detectors available.

"Our team is looking forward to bringing all of our equipment to one place so anyone interested in detecting is able to see what our brand is about," said Gary Schafer, general manager of Worldwide Consumer Markets for Minelab Electronics.

"We're offering giveaways, expert advice from industry professionals and a chance to test all our detectors that are within every budget, all at this one event."

Featured speakers include local detecting expert Chicago Ron, author and expert trainer Andy Sabisch and expert Minelab trainer Chuck Smalley. And every hour from 1 to 5 p.m., one metal detectorist will be selected as the winner of an exclusive giveaway.

Holiday shoppers who would like to skip long lines at a crowded mall and buy a new gadget different from the typical smartphone or video game set might want to visit this one-stop shop event. Attendees can register for free by sending full names and email addresses to events@minelabsamericas.com.
