Robber fires BB gun at victim in Des Plaines

A man was shot at four times with a BB gun during an armed robbery in a parking lot at a Des Plaines business, police said.

The victim had advertised a cellphone on Craig's List, and the robber had agreed to purchase it for $730, meeting up around 11:15 a.m. Nov. 4 at 1055 S. Mount Prospect Road, where the victim worked.

The robber gave the victim $750 in what later turned out to be counterfeit $100 and $50 bills and took the phone. Then the robber pulled out the gun and said, "Give me all you've got. Give me everything," according to the police report.

The victim said as he reached into his pocket to get the money out, he reached for the robber's gun with his other hand and began to wrestle for control of it. As they struggled, the robber fired one round, confirming the victim's suspicion that the weapon was a BB gun, according to the report.

The robber ripped the gun from the victim's hand and ran off, with the victim chasing him while screaming for help. The robber fired approximately three more shots at the victim, none striking him, the report said.

The robber entered a green SUV in the lot and drove away, according to the report.
